Death of Ajax

In this famous scene on a red figure amphora (c. 545-530 B.C.), Exekias shows Ajax as he plants his sword and is about to fall on it. He does this after losing the contest with Odysseus for the weapons of Achilles and subsequently being driven mad by Athena.
