Prometheus and Atlas

On the inside of a drinking cup (kylix) c. 550 B.C. from Sparta are two unidentified figures from Greek myth, often taken to be Prometheus, whose liver is being eaten by an eagle, and Atlas, bent over as he holds the world on his shoulders.

Some people believe the snake behind Atlas suggests a scene in the Underworld. These people argue that the figure next to the snake could be Sisyphos, rolling a huge rock up hill, and opposite him, Tityos, punished for raping Leto.
