Department of Latin Report – 1898

Viola Boddie Department of Latin The State Normal and Industrial College of North Carolina, Greensboro N.C. April 1898. The department has enrolled during this scholastic year about two hundred seventy-five students. A post graduate course in Latin was offered this year and enthusiastically taken by several of the young women. It is the purpose of the department to make this course one that will be especially helpful to those who contemplate teaching this subject. The work in the Freshman class is frequently much hampered by lack of English preparation on the part of students, and the department would recommend that no student take Latin who cannot enter the
Viola Boddie Freshmen class in English. There is much need of a better reference library; the books that have been purchased were few and cheap, consequently are now much worn.  Respectfully Submitted: Viola Boddie
