Research Interests
Dr. Dad’s research encompasses the epic and oral traditions of Ancient Greece, Rome, Persia and South Asia, as well as classical reception and comparative world mythology. Her research focuses on the role of women in relation to the epic and tragic hero, questions of kinship, and performance studies. Her current book project,‘Through the Looking Glass’: The Narrative Performance of Anarkali, deconstructs the orientalized narratives of royal Mughal women as products of the ‘male-gaze’. She enjoys teaching about monsters, heroes, tombs, and travel–preferably all in one juicy legend or stunning myth.
